Josefin Slab was my initial attempt at typeface design – at least conceptually! I began by sketching Josefin sans, inspired by geometric typefaces from the 1930s. Kabel and Memphis combined with trendy facts seemed ideal as starting points.
As I wanted my designs to have an authentic Scandinavian feel, I paid special attention to diacritics. I was particularly intrigued by the letter “ae”, which features looped structures within its continuous body and made the letter stand out more with this character than with others.
