Nike is an iconic American brand responsible for over 60 percent of athletic shoe sales worldwide. Established in 1964 and initially known as Blue Ribbon Sports (as it sold Onitsuka Tiger sneakers), its name changed when co-founder Phil Knight decided to create his own product line under the Nike name in 1971.
Nike logo uses an italic sans-serif font reminiscent of Futura’s Bold Condensed Oblique font designed in 1928 exclusively at Bauer Type Foundry and altered over an eight year period by Typographer Paul Renner.
