Hermann stands as one of the most user-friendly fonts we’ve seen to date. Since early last year, W Design team members began exploring ways to develop text fonts inspired by novels written by Hermann Hesse and Aldous Huxley which feature concepts of duality, surrealism and wildness – these books served as great sources for inspiration when creating Hermann.
With these concepts in mind, we carefully examined the typefaces employed by Huxley and Hesse in their works. Sabon and Garamond stood out, drawing our admiration and garnering our focus. Therefore, our challenge was to incorporate some key features from these fonts with what we knew already – an initial text font could be created, however after further evaluation it became apparent that certain aspects needed fine-tuning in order to fully convey all ideas.
