Typographic terminology often uses “nova,” “neue,” “next” and “new” to denote Hernandez Niu fonts that have been modified through various means, including redesign, technical adjustments, adding characters or simply becoming outdated.
At Latinotype we are currently adopting the term niu to refer to specific typefaces. Niu is derived from ‘new’; we have simply adjusted its meaning so as to match Latinotyp’s language while still keeping its original definition.
