Hind Madurai Font Family

Hind Madurai is a family of five Tamil fonts in the larger Open Source Hind Multi-Script project from the Indian Type Foundry. All the Tamil characters are included in the Hind Madurai fonts; there are some Roman-script equivalents as well.

Intended for use in User Interface (UI) design, Hind’s letterforms possess a few features that help it look quite clean at small body sizes. Most of them appear to have been drawn with a monoline rather than a brush or edged pen. When a stroke does have an edge, these edges terminate at flat angles–either horizontal or vertical–rather than on a diagonal.

This imparts clear cut counter forms to the characters. Furthermore, Hind’s letter shapes are open and counter forms. The entire family reads well when used to set text.
