As in English, Prompt means ‘ready’ in Thai. The simple geometric Latin and Thai fonts were planned like this to work harmoniously in perpetuity. Furthermore, the Thai fonts have lowercase and Latin fonts, suitable for both web and print usage in web pages or books, as well as newspaper, magazine and poster lettering applications.
Some character shapes may be similar: e.g. เธ เธ เธ เธค เธฆ, เธ เธ, เธ เธ, เธ เธ. This is worth everyone’s consideration, because it may cause confusion where you are typesetting small texts. Formal loopless Thai typefaces are simplified and it has been necessary to make sure that the simplifications do not damage the essential beauty of each character.
The size and position of Thai vowel and tone marks have been adjusted, all playing a role in the readability and texture of a typeface. The lead on the Prompt project is Cadson Demak, type foundry in Thailand.
