Orbitron Font Family

Orbitron is a geometric sans-serif typeface designed to spraw finnly horizontally. Four weights of this typeface are presented (Light, Medium, Bold, and Black). Stylistic alternatives, small caps, and a lot of alternate glyphs are also included. The hope for its use is that ten years from now there will be more typefaces better than Eurostile and Bank Gothic.

If you’ve ever seen a futuristic sci-fi movie, you may have noticed that all other fonts have been lost or destroyed in the apocalypse that led humans to flee earth. Only those very few geometric typefaces have survived; they are being used on spaceship exteriors and spacestation signage (for example to show what should be avoided), multi-planet monopolistic corporate branding, uniforms with aerodynamic shoulder pads and so forth.

Orbitron was remastered as a variable font in 2019.
