Aldo Novarese designed Eurostile in 1962 as a geometric sans serif typeface to honor one of Italy’s renowned foundries – Nebiolo in Turin – after having assisted in creating Microgramma, an uppercase font featuring various weight options.
Novarese responded ten years later with Eurostile, his solution for Microgramma’s shortcomings that added lowercase letters along with bold, condensed versions and ultrathin designs, such as Eurostile Compact for a total of seven fonts.
