Lalezar is a new Arabic and Latin display typeface representative of popular culture. During the 1960-70s, a particular genre of filmmaking appeared in Iran, which was widely identified as Film-Farsi. The films produced at the time were based on several popular topics, such as romances, musicals, and sub-hero characters.
The posters were either required to represent these elements or correct it, and therefore the Persian film media utilized a distorting visualization and a relatively specific show of letter graphics. One can say that those letterforms were the most significant part of film posters in that media period, as they were aggressive and dynamic in one way or another. Lalezar tries to recover those attractive qualities of letterforms and appear as a modern Arabic show of typeface, with a Latinic brother.
