Bitter Text displayed on screens has become an increasingly important means of communication and reading among people, exceeding printed information in terms of importance and reader engagement. Designers are seeking the ideal models to use as digital guidebooks.
Bitter was inspired by my fascination with pixels and designed as a “contemporary slab serif” typeface designed for use on any computer. It features simple grid pixels as the basis for its striking design based on rational rather than psychological considerations, including huge x-heights, accessibility and humanistic characteristics with subtle details in each character which add rhythmic text flow.
