Coolvetica, a sans-serif typeface developed from scratch, was inspired by logos of American chain stores in the 1970s. At that time, everyone was experimenting with Helvetica font design, designers also utilized it for branding purposes – Photo Lettering Inc’s catalog is full of humorous variations on Helvetica variations; Letraset joined in by offering Shatter Formula One and Isometric for further playback of these themes.
Coolvetica is a modern take on the 1970s custom display font with sharp kerning with funky curly lines, as well as its distinctive squirly biting. Tails from R and A letters have been removed for better spacing, not intended to be text type but intended as display font suitable for large titles and headings, Coolvetica was originally released with its 1999 version featuring an A which had been scrubbed out.
