Destiny 2 is a multiplayer online shooting video game developed by Bungie, released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017 as well as one month later for Microsoft Windows, as a successor to 2014’s Destiny and its subsequent expansions. Set within an “mythic sci-fi” world incorporating elements of role playing.
The game features activities for players that focus both on player versus environment and against player dynamics, with three-player strikes being used against environments as well as six-player raids to combat player against environment scenarios. Participants take on the role of Guardians of Earth’s last safe city to search for their Light and discover a path back home in search of saving The Last City from destruction.
At launch, Destiny 2 received positive reviews, most notably its enhancements over its predecessor and praise for its rich narrative. Within its first week in Japan alone, 50,263 copies had already been sold of PlayStation 4. It has also been nominated and awarded with prizes like The Game Awards 2017.
