Mukta is a time-honored, versatile humanist sans-serif typeface family designed for use in many ways and situations, ranging from small text up to huge text collectionsโsuch as long essays, newspapers and books or even CDs or websites. If you need something that has been proven as robust over long periods and can cover a wide range of uses without feeling tired rapidly then this may be just what your looking for. This type family presents an interesting project at first sight: to work on some Indian scripts that have been left in the dark. The author has subtitled it “A multi-script offering” because she does not want any particular script to feel neglected and underprivileged, as still happens frequently.
It’s the aim of this project to form a family of Indian typefaces which though belonging each to a different script, should appear harmonious when juxtaposed on the printed page. This means that fonts can be freely used either for single scripts or for multi-script applications.
Mukta was designed by Girish Dalvi and Yashodeep Gholap. MuktaVaani was designed by Noopur Datye and Pallavi Karambelkar with thehelp of Sarang Kulkarni and Maithili Shingre. Aadarsh Rajan personally authored Mukta Malar. While Shuchita Grover and Noopur Datye were responsiblefor designing Mukta Mahee.
