Blackletter Old English Font also referred to as blackletter, dates back over 1000 years when it was widely utilized for writing Western Europe. Contrary to popular belief, it does not refer to an alphabet or script, rather referring only to its usage for writing Western European. Textualis is considered the most calligraphic version of blackletter while Schwabacher was used extensively in early German print typefaces and Fraktur is the most frequently employed German font used for blackletter fonts.
Wikipedia defines Old English font as a recreation of William Caslon’s typeface Caslon Black, distinguished by its engraving style and distinct look and historic appeal, making it increasingly sought-after for use in invitations, advertisements and greeting cards.
The classic English font is often employed when designing text tattoos, yet its complex appearance makes it extremely challenging to draw freehand. K-Type’s New Old English family, designed to emulate its classic English look, was inspired by two Victorian coins with lowercase gothic script that looked quite contemporary-sounding.
