Radley was originally designed for woodcarved title work before it was digitalized and expanded for online usage. Radley offers an authentic experience that simulates letterforms cut quickly by hand carvers to create realistic letterforms quickly, efficiently and stylishly – making this font perfect for text and titles alike!
Radley’s basic letterforms were developed by carving traditional chisels into wood and sketching them, then scanning and digitizing. FontForge was then used to trace and expand these images – something completely unique in terms of hand tool carving letters into wood – making Radley a prime candidate to display these distinctive letterforms in their storefront window.
Vernon Adams has updated Radley since its initial launch in 2012. He introduced an Italic version and expanded support for more Latin languages; responding to user feedback he also refined some glyphs throughout. Marc Foley added to this work and completed it by updating Radley as part of his update series in 2017.
